Cabbage Recipes on Global TV
A lot of people associate cabbage with being cheap and boring, but it really doesn’t have to be that way! I am so excited to share 3 cabbage recipes that will help you fall in love this awesome cruciferous vegetable.
During my segment on Global TV, I show you how to make a tasty Kale Cabbage Slaw from my cookbook Healthy Fresh Salads and talk about two other yummy cabbage recipes. The segment originally aired on March 13, 2017.
Health Benefits of Cabbage
Cabbage is a cruciferous vegetable with lots of redeeming qualities. Health benefits include:
- Great source of vitamin C for the tail end of cold and flu season
- Excellent for cancer prevention
- Protects the stomach lining
- Red cabbage has more benefits because of its higher phytonutrient content which means it has more antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits
Cabbage Recipes You Will Love
Kale Cabbage Slaw
I love the sweetness the apple and cranberries bring to this delicious fresh slaw. It is fantastic to make in large batches, you can store it in the fridge to enjoy through the week. It is also a really nice slaw to serve during the holiday season because of the beautiful red and green colours.

Asian Napa Cabbage Slaw
This is a fun fusion of flavours with shredded Napa cabbage, edamame, and sesame seeds topped with an Asian inspired miso dressing.
Mayo Free Coleslaw
I do like mayo, but it is not the healthiest ingredient even if you make it from scratch. I also really like coleslaw, but it is always made with mayo, so I decided to create my own vinaigrette based coleslaw. This mayo-free coleslaw is tangy, fresh and perfect for BBQ season.

Have you ever found yourself thinking “I need to be more creative with veggies”?
This is a common complaint I hear a lot from my clients and readers.
Everyone knows they need to be eating lots of veggies, but the thought of eating another salad made with lettuce from a bag and store bought dressing makes everyone want to yawn with boredom.
That is why I created Healthy Fresh Salads. It contains over 30 exciting and fresh gluten-free salad recipes. The recipes are all “fresh”, not only are they created using fresh veggies, but they are also inspired, creative and anything but boring.
